I believe they were Rangers...1st Ranger battalion, US Army 29th Infantry

Miller's Unit was one of 8 Companies of US Rangers that landed with the 29th Infanty. I think (from memory), the film had a subtitle saying the sector was Dog Green, but I stand to be corrected
