In the comics, Wolverine wears yellow and blue spandex sometimes. In the movie, Wolverine sarcastically made a comment about wearing yellow spandex in the first movie.

During the 80s, though, his costume was orange and brown.

I'm not that big of a fan but after reading your question wolverine immediately sprung to mind, he wears tight yellow in the comics and cartoons I've seen but not I belive in the movie (although I have to admit I havent seen them all the way through)

As everyone said before... it just pretains to his original costume that he had when X-Men first was created. His costume as well as his personality developed as time grew on.
