It is a tax exempt IRS approved entity. 501c3 status enables its donors to get tax deductable donations.

I also worked at an apartment community that had a 501c(3)Bond on it and it meant that as long as we offered Affordable Housing to a certain % of people, the owner's received a tax deduction through the IRS.

I think you mean 501c(3) - this is the Internal Revenue Code which defines a non-profit organization. See the Code section on irs.gov

501c(3) is the Government designation for a non-profit orginization. Churches and Charities are classified as
501c(3).

this type of organization needs by laws written board meeting information with your agency and has to be registered with your state for a ein number glade to assist you in yur qustion by for now
