Check Fraud - How do I get my money back?

A personal check to me from a friend for $1000 was stolen 5 months ago through the mail. The thief forged my endorsement, and cashed the check at a bank where neither of us had an account. They did not ask for ID. My friend's bank is saying it's going to get the money back, but the bank that cashed the check is still "investigating". Is there anything I can do to get them to pay up ASAP?

Nope. They have to be sure you didnt cash it.

Your friend really needs to pursue the issue since he wrote the check.

If the check was stolen from the mail call the postal inspectors. because the check was not written by you, there's nothing else you can do. If you haven't been compensated yet and the money is owed you for services or payment, Your friend is still obligated to pay if you have proof.
