I tell my sisters this is why fireflies glow
The reason fireflies glow is because one day a little beetle was flying through the woods and and had got lost it wondered for a while and found an old shack and in it was and wizard this wizard was kind and ask" can I help you" the little firefly said "yes,I am lost and need a way to find my way home.So the wizard granted his wish by giving him an ever lasting light that glow until the firefly dies then his light goes onto his kids

Now you are going to get the real reason.
Once upon a time in a land far, far away, lived a big ole beetle named Willard. Willard was a good sort but he did have one problem. He liked to take an occasional nip. It was not uncommon to see ole Willard with a snoot-full on payday.
One night Buzz the Caterpillar bet Willard that he couldn't fly three times around the porch light. Well ole Willard was never one to turn down a challenge so he flexed his wings and up in the air--he haphazardly flew.
All went well the first two laps but then Ole Mrs Murphy turned her porch light on.
Blinded by the light and screaming...Ole Willard ran smack dab into the light bulb.
To his drunken horror he realized that he swallowed it. All his friends laughed, and laughed and laughed.
Feeling lower than camel dung Ole Willard decided he'd better go home and face the music.
Willard's wife was none too pleased either. She made Willard sleep on the couch because the light kept her awake. Eventually Willard's wife filed for divorce and got the kids, house, child-support and alimony.
and the moral of this story???
Don't let your mouth overload your A$$.

Fireflies are the re-incarnation of people who, while they were on earth, were guides for others in many different ways. After their death many wish to continue helping and guiding those in need so they come back as fireflies. While most don't see that as leading they appear when you need a light to guide you, either metaphorically or really. The blinking light is a sort of code. If you watch it long enough you will understand the message they are trying to send.

Fireflies are actually born from little stars. Some people say that stars, when they age, become white dwarves, but really it blasts with a flash of life and whizzes down onto earth. everytime the firefly feels a flash of passion or a strong sensation it glows, like a twinkling star.

Once upon a time there was a little beetle that lived in an old empty mansion. None of the other insects would play with him. They wouldn't play with him because he had a funny looking azz....it was brite green during the day and would sometimes show under his black wings...they tormented him constantly about his weird azz until one day he couldn't take it anymore and moved away. Shortly after a human family moved into the old abandoned mansion. One night when the moon wasn't out they hired an exterminator to come in and spray for all "those nasty bugs". As his truck rumbled up in the darkness the little beetle heard him coming and went out to investigate.....to his horror he saw insects swarming around the house SCREAMING....CONFUSED...FLYING INTO EACH OTHER....what a disaster he thought....they cannot see, it's too dark outside. He thought hard about how to lead them to safety and his azz began to glow a brite green. It worked...they saw him....follow me he cried!! He flew around them all, gathered them up and led them to safety. After that all the lady insects had the hots for him and well....one thing led to another and there were many many beetles born with brite green azzes and this became the begginning of the race of fireflies. THE END.

Fireflies glow because every thing needs a purpose. Firelies aren't superstrong like ants or smart like us. So their purpose was to spread light on the world. In other words they had nothing better to do so they trained to make their butt light up

A Penguin stuck a very very small light bulb on the rearend of a mosquito and then put a small puoch full of green water over the light bulb. Then he made it so that he light would go on every 40 seconds. And thus the firefly was born

Fireflies have small antimatter warpdrive engines for high speed maneuverability. The insect engages its engine for a boost, then glides until it needs to speed up, slow down, or change directions (kinda like a spaceship). Thus, when you see the glow, you know that its engine has been engaged.

on the First day,He was experiencing some trouble with the lighting concept, so He created a light, a very small, dim light, but every time he moved He had to take the light with Him, so he made it mobile. still it was to dark, He decided to make this light bigger-the moon. in the process, the small lights failed to fuse so he made wings on each little light-fireflies! He liked the "mini moons" so they were kept around. and that's why the sun is above us and it moves from night, to day!

Fireflies are created when mosquitos eat glow in the dark silly putty. That is why they have such a short life span.
I thought it was cute :)
