Why would Hindu's drink tumeric in milk on thursdays?

My friend is from Maharashtra and she drinks a teaspoon of tumeric mixed with milk every thursday. When I asked her why she said it was because it was thursday. When I pressed further she said it was something her mother said she should do, but she didn't know why because she's not as devout as her mother. Why do this? What is the significance?

May be because thursday is related with yellow colour. This colour is related with puja to Vishnu.

I am not sure either. But Termric boiled in milk tastes fine and is good for health. Hindusism has incorporated many healthy habits in religius practice. Many revered tree are just grand ma's medicene. Yellow milk is not drunk by all hindus. At the most it is a custom in Maharashtra or in the family of your friend.

I am a Hindu and only time I was given termeric milk to drink was after an accident and I was hurt. It has healing features. Many people drink it just for healty life.
