You can get a Free Antivirus Scan online by going to Trend-Micro's 'Free Scan' website, once you accept the 'Terms of Use' Click on the button that says, 'Launching House Call' ... let the wizard run ... You can select the JAVA version, which will run from your browser, or you can download the application to your computer and scan .. accept the Security Pop-Up and then let the program download to your machine to begin the process . .... it's about 1.5mb, not very big, but if you have a dial-up it will take longer, it's best to have dsl or cable. Once it's done, you can have TrendMicro scan the entire computer, or just individual files/folders. Click next when your ready. At this point your at step 3 of the online scanning process, this may take a while depending on what you chose earlier to scan. Let it run. If it doesn't find any malware, trojans, adware or viruses, it will tell you, otherwise .. it will list them, in order of the directory it finds it sitting in. You can then look up the name of the virus, from the TrendMicro site and find a removal tool to download and run which will then remove the virus from your 'new computer' ... hope this helps!

Nothing is free. Free ones are usually useless. You may want to check the newspaper ads. Sometimes you can find deal on virus scan software that has a rebate, which end up costing you next to nothing. McAfee and Norton are most used.
