Download CutePDF, a free application from places like download.com. Then choose CutePDF as your "printer" when you're in the printing window.

For free: download and install Open Office, open the document in Open Office, klick the PDF button. Don't know about the other open source solutions - I tried ghostscript, but it is or was too hard to set up.

Willing to pay: buy Adobe Acrobat, it will add the PDF button to Microsoft Office.

You can't without some "pdf" creation software - such as the FULL version of Adobe Acrobat or a free pdf creator off the net...

If you have Acrobat (full version) you should have a new Acrobat menu bar with "create pdf version" on it.

You need a PDF creator or convertor

You could look for a free converter in www.majorgeeks.com

    like:

novaPDF Lite (This version is free, however it leaves a "created with" notice at the bottom of the pdf file)

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/novaPDF_Lite_d4653.html

Pdf995 (The free versions of pdf995 products will display a sponsor page in your web browser each time you run the software. If you would prefer not to see sponsor pages, you may upgrade by obtaining a key at any time for $9.95.)

Get following software for free and install it.

After installation you'll have a new virtual printer called "FreePDF XP". Open you Word document and print it to this printer, then you'll get a dialog asking you where to store the newly created PDF file.

This works of course for any application, provided it has print support.

(The download site itself is German but you can download the english manual here: http://www.shbox.de/FreePDFXPAdmin.pdf )

You can't unless you have the full version of Adobe Acrobat installed.
