I think they are great. They are more relaxing and less stressful. Its more of a you and the baby type of situation because the doctor isn't right there he's watching your progress. its also more homelike style without all the electronics around surrounding you. The bad thing about water births is that if there is something wrong with the baby, there are no high tech tools to help the baby right away. Another thing is that when the baby reaches the surface it may breath stuff in from the placenta which can cause an infection in either the lungs or eyes. But I high recommend it. Besides the doctors should only let you have water births if the pregnancy is 100% safe and normal.

I think it's interesting. People say it's "easing" the baby into the world because it comes from your womb into the water and then into the air instead of just into the air... I haven't had one because I didn't like the idea of sitting in a pool with all the birth sludge floating around (and my hospital doesn't offer water births). But I know that when I was in labor and I was in the jacuzzi, sitting in the water does take some of the pressure off your back and peri area and is more comfortable than sitting on the hospital bed... So it might be nice.

PROS. I am not a girl, but I was there when my wife gave birth to my son, in the water. We weighed all the differences, and He is 10 now, and we honestly believe that he has become a better person, less stressed, and a great swimmer. Plus for my wife, it was way less stressful. DO IT.

I'm a firm believer in water generally as an aid for giving birth. my 3rd child was in a water bath and it was a good experience. I tried with my fourth, but she came too quickly!

It really depends what sort of person you are.

I hate girls only...boys only..questions...why do you believe everyone can not give an honest answer to this question?

I'm a male, but I have a little experience with water birth because I was there when my wife did it for our two kids...but I guess you don't care about my opinion!!

I have had a water birth. There were no cons for me but it was smooth and very comfortable.

i was the baby that my mom had a waterbirth. she said it was very relaxing and kept her pain/contractions down. She said it went fast, and she enjoyed it very much, being comfortable...perfectly natural

the only thing you need to worry about is having a doctor there.. if you want to have a water childbirth it'd be better that you check around to see if any clinics have this option avalible.

you know what i mean, jelly bean?
