Oppenheimer means "from Oppenheim" provided link will tell you that.
Oppenheim is a small town (about 7000 inhabitants) on the Upper Rhine (Rheinhessen), between Mainz and Worms. It is in the county of Mainz-Bingen in Rheinland-Pfalz and belongs to the Nierstein-Oppenheim Verbandsgemeinde (an administrative unit).
Hope this info helped :)

German and Jewish (western Ashkenazic): habitational name for someone from Oppenheim.

oppen is possibly a transliteration of "hupfen " in German which means "hopping". "Heim" in German is "home" in English. put them together and you have "hopping home." What is a hopping home? Maybe it's a German idiom of some kind.
