Have you ever encountered a pop-up on the Yahoo! web page?

Inspired by a question that asserted Yahoo! was responsible for adult-oriented pop-ups encountered when on the Yahoo! website...

I have been surfing Yahoo! nearly since its inception, and it has been my home page for about seven years. In that time, I have never experienced a pop-up on the Yahoo! website, nor has IE, Firefox, or Mozilla reported a blocked pop-up.

In the question mentioned above, I offered the opinion that the asker was infected with spyware, and the pop-ups in question only APPEARED to be coming from Yahoo, when in fact they were the result of the infection. Though no one contradicted my theory directly, every other answer seemed to agree with the asker's assertion that Yahoo! was responsible for the pop-ups, adult and otherwise.

Do you experience pop-ups on the Yahoo! home page that you are sure are Yahoo's doing?

I did experience a pop-up once on this site, but the runners were on first and second, so the infield fly rule was in effect.

I've never gotten a pop-up from yahoo since I got rid of my last spyware problem. I fixed the problem, and yahoo doesn't pop-up things anymore. However, I did notice that yahoo was more than happy enough to take over the search capabilities of my copy of Firefox, which is annoing because I prefer Google....

I've been using Yahoo! as my homepage for many years as well. I access it from different systems, use different browsers; I have never had a pop-up from them. Never.

If someone is getting pop-ups while using Yahoo!--particularly adult-oriented ones--I would agree that spyware of some kind is almost certainly the culprit.

  • No and I found that question strange.

I spend way too much time here and am in and out at different times of the day.

I have never ever seen anything that looked like a pop up on the Yahoo! home page.

I have been using Yahoo as my home page and email for about as long as you and have never known them to have pop ups. I say we chase all those people down that said that it was yahoo and beat them with wet noodles.
