Three year old river birch with yellow and dropping leaves?

What is wrong with my river birch. It is dropping leaves after they are turning yellow. I live in central Oklahoma and it has been hot and dry. I water it for an hour with a slow trickle every other day.

    Wouldn't ten minutes watering be ample enough per day? Perhaps you are killing it with kindness.

    i know jus what your talking about i spent last summer out thare and my grama had the same problem and she started watering hers at the beging of the day and at the end and it got a lot better and prettery
