In philosophy, "virtue ethics" is a system of ethics which focuses on societal behavior and individual virtues. The practice of this kind of ethics goes back to Aristotle and Plato, and involves the practice of good habits and the

encouragement of virtuous inner being. The focus is not so much on accomplishments or good deeds, as it is on the purification of the human heart, and it's standing relative to virtue. On a personal note, I would describe this system as best personified in the practices of the 2nd way, they way of faith and belief. There are three other ways.

Katie, If you are asking for scolastic purposes the fellow who quotes Wikapedia is correct and you should check out an encyclopedia. However if you are asking how it relates to the hear and now? Then, I must say that those two words are one in the same, as in the knights of old and the vows they took to become a part of that greatness, each day that we live we face decisions that call upon our integrity and each decision we make, be it to have sex, do drugs, belittle another, cheat, lie,etc... . the best decision you already know. You had courage to ask the question. You have the strength to accept the answer. I did not mean to preach. In the application of Virtue Ethics,it is your choice between right and wrong and good and bad. Sometimes you must walk that road between the highway and the shoulder.
