Carrier pigeon living in my yard for 3 days now. Band on each leg. Is there someone I should call?

One band is reads: CU LIH 2004

Any idea who to call or a website to check this out. Very friendly pigeon. Does fly a little, but mostly just sits near a bush outside.

It's a racing pigeon from Canada. Poor thing. I dont underastand why people do this to them. It may be hurt and lost. You can look up the Canadian racing pigeon union and call someone there. The main number is 519 652-5704.

They will know. If you are not in Canada, they most likely will not care to get it back because of the distance.

Pigeons make great pets by the way so please consider keeping it : )

Probably had some good storms in your neighborhood recently.

Contact a vet near your home. If not, try the Audobon Society. I'm sure they'll have a contact for you. Be sure to give them the band number.

btw... "passenger" pigeons are extinct, not carrier.

Probably not a "carrier" pigeon, but definitely belongs to someone who raises pigeons. It MUST be friendly to let you get close enough to read the band on its leg.

I found this site ... maybe you can find out how to track the number on the band here:

Call the Animal Control in your area, and they have the means to find out what/who it belongs to, or they can just get rid of it.
