I am assuming that this question revolves around an actor getting the Best Movie, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Screenplay Oscars (whether it is original screenplay or adaptation) for said film

No performer has pulled that off.

Olivier got close with "Hamlet", but did not win director.

Many have won a directorship award, but failed to nab the acting oscar.

If it is ANY academy award, Orson Welles did this with "Citizen Kane" and Woody Allen did it with "Annie Hall", however, Allen did not produce the film. And we musn't forget Warren Beatty for "Reds".

Mel Gibson did not write "Braveheart". Charlie Chaplin films are a bit problematic, as Chaplin never had a shooting script when he did the films.

  • Actually, the only person to acheive this distinction is Woody Allen for "Annie Hall." Clint Eastwood, Mel Gibson, and Kevin Costner have all been involved in writing, producing, directing, and starring in acadamy award winning movies. However, they have never done all four in their films. Their most prolific works only involved three out of four:

"Unforgiven" Clint Produced, Directed, and Starred but did not write.

"Mystic River" Clint Wrote, Produced, and Directed but did not star.

"Dances With Wolves" Coster Produced, Directed, and Starred but did not write.

"Braveheart" Mel Produced, Directed, and Starred but did not write.

"The Passion of the Christ" Mel Produced, Directed, and wrote but did not star.

EDIT: Mea Culpa. The above poster is right and I am wrong. Woody did not produce Annie Hall. I believe the title would go to Orson Welles for "Citizen Kane" and Warren Beatty for "Reds." Although he did not get top billing as the "star" Welles did receive the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his role as Kane.

    Bon Giorno Principessa!!!

That would be no other than Roberto Benigni for LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL, my all time favorite movie. From Italy, 1997.

He wrote, directed and acted in the movie. He was nominated for 2 academy awards: best director, best actor, he won Best Actor.

The movie was nominated for 7 oscars and won 3 (Best Actor, Best Foreign Movie and Best Music Original Score) - the other nominations were: Best Movie, Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Film Editing

I know this is late, but Spike Lee is the only human to Produce, director, write and act in a movie. He never won any Oscars and I found this completely odd if not suspect being that he did it in 10 different movies!

He was even nominated for an oscar for a leading role, but he didnt produce Annie Hall.

Clint Eastwood - Unforgiven (no) didn't write

Sylvester Stallone - Rocky (no) didn't direct

Pah!! I've been hunting for this. It's Orson Welles with Citizen Kane, but the guy two down (dukalink6000) got it on here first. Points should go there. Here's another source for it:

Wow, you have a strict curriculum! i visit wager Kate Winslett. i think of between the flicks could be great, yet i'm no longer accustomed to her different artwork. different actors contained in the action picture, Leo DiCaprio and Billy Zane. i'm probable incorrect, yet i presumed i could provide it a attempt. : )
