Can you have more than One Best Friend?

In a conversation, I would love to refer to one of my close friends as my "best friend", but pinning that title would be unfair to my other close friend who I consider just as worthy. Can you have more than one "best" friend? If so, Isn't that defeating the purpose of what "BEST" is? Do I have to chose?

Off course. every one is not alike, even your friends. its not a rule that you must have one best friend, you can have more than that.you may like your friends for different reasons and they can be your best friends for their being different.

You don't have to choose. You can have several Best friends, and consider them all equal. If its between you and 2 other girls/boys, theres nothing wrong with calling them best friends. Maybe you can introduce them to each other, and you guys can be a group of 3. I have a best guy friend, and a best girl friend in two different cities.

So, I know what its like to walk around in a group of 3.

Just talk to them and tell them that you care about them equally. and a Best friend doesnt mean its just one friend.

So its not necessarily defeating its purpose.

My Uncle told me when I was fifteen that at the end of your life if you have but one or two genuine friends you are truely lucky..

All the rest are just acquaintances really..

I agree totally with what MELINDA C had to say..

    One best friend..

There is one you know you feel more comfortable with, but you don't have to advertise it to the other who I would call a close friend.. then you have your acquaintances.

Situations change with friendships as you mature and have a family. It is impossible to nurture so many other close relationships properly..

ah i hav ebeen in that situation time and again. well, yes u can have more than a best friend. and no it doesn't defeat the purpose of the title, coz the title has been made by man himself. anyway, don't let the guilt affect u too much. just keep the persons as ur 'best friends' and not two separate best friend. ok take care and enjoy!

i would say you are lucky having more than one best friend. this is what a best friend is. someone who has your back 24/7 who you can tell a secret to and wont tell the person next to them when you leave the room. someone you can call in the middle of the night and will actually listen and be there for you no matter what. someone you can trust with your life and mean it. it takes a long time to get a best friend you have to know them for years i have one best friend i have know for 25 yrs and i could call her in the middle of the night and she would fly anywhere to help me out.

no you don't have to chose and ive gone through this before with my best guy friends. you can refer to both of them as your best friends, but i think the reason why i can refer them as my best friend to each of them differently is because both of them hang out in two totally seperate groups but they both understand the whole best friend title they got. but in your situation, i would just refer the person who i tend to get along more and spend much more time with my best friend.

You can have more than just one best friend and you don't have to choose whos better than the other their both good friends in their own way as they have different skills and qualities.

Wow. I never thought of that before. You could look at them and say, "These are my two best friends." But I can see your point about there only being one.

Don't stress out about it. It's not like you're required to bestow the title on one of them!

They are obviously good friends. You don't have to title them with the title 'best friend'. If you try and choose between friends, that'll lead to trouble and hurt feelings. Just be friends with them both and forget this best friend nonsense. They are your pals, that should be good enough.

But, if you insist, call them your best friends. make them both your best friends. It's ok to have more than one best friend.

I think you can have one best friend but many close ones

In my opinion you can only have one true best friend, someone that you can trust 100% + with anything and everything you tell them, they stick with you thru thick and thin. You can have "good friends" also.
