Can I paint on a wallpaper in the bedroom without removing it?
I'm trying to paint one of my bedrooms but I have a wallpaper about 10 inches wide on the wall where the ceiling meets the wall. I dont want to remove it. I'm going to use a primer then paint over it. Will this work? What is long term effects? Will it peel off?

Do it right the first time and remove the paper so you end up happier. If you spend a few bucks on a heat gun (10-20 bucks) you can use that to heat the paper and it will peel right off with no effort.

Honestly I just hate wallpaper. The house we bought had it everywhere to and I took a very bit of it down. IT took time, but it's so much better than painting over. Hot water mixed with vinegar will do the trick, promise. I just put towels on the floor where I was working ans sprayed sections one at a time. Then I used a scrapper and it came off two layers at a time. First the paper and then the under part. The people before us painted of wallpaper then put more wallpaper and I'm still repairing the damage.

No, the paint needs to adhere to a roughed up wall.It will definately peel, not to mention probably bubble up and look terrible. There is a product called Dep that works great on removing wall paper.Read the directions.

Thye do it all the time on Trading Spaces. I think you have to primer it first like you would a normal wall. Go to their website or call somone at Home Depot or Menards.

Yes, you can paint the wallpaper, but remember, if you remove the wallpaper, you will have to re-paint.

It will work, I've done it.
And never had a problem with it, but that's not to say you won't have a problem with it peeling later on.

leave it up.....take some high grit sandpaper and rough up the wallpaper, then prime and paint
