Should the IRL have timed road course races?

At Watkins Glen this weekend, the Persident of the IRL decided to cut short the race by lap count and impose the 2-hour time limit. Is this a good thing? I will allow debate w/in the answers.

Update:

And, YES, I know that the race wasn't "this weekend," I wrote this question awhile ago.

I don't think they should cut a short race based on time. On top of that you go to a course like Watkins Glen and you know that it will take a little extra time. If anything they should be kicking idiots out of the race who are going around intentionally wrecking people. That crap about the cold tires isn't believable anyone who watched it. You could see him clearly steer over there like that. Anyway you cut down the length if you don't want the race to take as long. That's why NASCAR cuts down the length of it's road races.

It was a fun, exciting, emotional, long race to watch this weekend even tho it was cut a short due to time. I agree with the time cap on races, here's why: It allows for networks to maintain a schedule and sell accurate commercials which will help boost ratings and increase revenues for the IRL as we all know they well need. It will hopefully increase the number of staff helping assisting when there is an accident to help reduce caution time/laps. Hopefully it will help officials determine whether or not to start a race allowing for enough time to finish the race relating to the weather condition. This is just my opinion, I look forward to other views.

The race this weekend was not at Watkins Glen! However to answer your question...YES! whatever his decision is, it's based on many factors that you and I will never fully understand.
