First of all, do you use one hand or both your hands for backhand? If you use two hands try to grab firmly the racket but loosen up the rest of your arm so that your arm will deliver the best shot. Don`t clinch your hand until the ball is close. You`re probably having problems because your body is not positioned correctly during the shot. It`s harder to hit a backhand with both of your arm because although the force is greater the body shifts too much most of the time. Pay attention to the position of your legs and upper body when you hit. Also try to make ample movements when you swing so that the strenght and speed of the ball will be much increased. Try to figure out where exactly you want the ball to go and shift your racket accordingly. If you need more info pls contact me.

I believe the home team's bat boys prepare 6 dozen baseballs prior to each game. They have to rub down each ball with specially-made mud believed to be from the Delware River delta, though it is known as Lena Blackburne's Rubbing Mud or Mississippi mud.

Actually, they rub up a "gross" (12 dozen) balls before each game. Sometimes balls removed from the games are returned in the later innings if they start to run short. Ron Luciano, a former MLB umpire speaks in one of his books about rubbing up and inspecting balls before the games. It used to befall on the umpires to do that. It has now become a batboy's job.
