Experiencing extreme pain after my braces got adjusted, what can I do and I am 2 months pregnant?
After I start my braces treatment, I found out I am pregnant. Although both my OBGY and orthodontist said it's ok and safe to have braces during prenancy. Now, after I got my braces ajusted yesterday, I feel so much pain in my mouth. I couldn't even eat or relax becuase of the pain. The bad part is I can not take any pain killer like before becuase of my prenancy. Any Ideas I can do to relieve some of my pain?

I had my braces during my last pregnancy. It was a painful experience, you're right. You CAN take Tylenol. It's perfectly safe during pregnancy. Also, use the wax they give you. For some reason it really does ease some of the discomfort. As far as eating. I would spend a couple of days after my adjustments eating oatmeal, pudding, smoothies and milkshakes. The smoothies were the best for getting yogurt, tons of fruit, wheat germ, etc.

I'm not sure what help I could offer but I'll try. First thing, I think it would be best to tell him while it's still early. Finding out later could only serve to put a wedge between the two of you. You said you've been friends for years so I assume that he'll have the initial reactions of being upset, confused, and anxious. He cares for you so it should pass. I have no idea as to your parental situations but most parents, again, will have the initail reactions to be expected, but will come to terms with it. Unless you are concerned with being kicked out I believe you should tell them as soon as possible. There are help lines you can call to help deal with these things in a manner that some people couldn't offer. You could look one up and talk to a professional? The choices you're going to come to face in the next little while will be tough, but you'll need to be sure of them, and to do that you will need the people in your life that care about you. Just be sure it's still your choice after people have put in their say. Like I said, probably not too much help - but if I were in your situation I'd be doing these things right away once I knew for sure. I hope everything works out well for you.

Sucking on some ice and let it sit near your gums and move it around your mouth. If ice is too boring, get a really good popsicle to sit in your mouth while it melts for the coldness.
Also, try baby ambesol....for teething (for babies of course). it numbs your gums....you could ALWAYS just do that for the numbing until it's better. Usually teeth don't hurth for more than 3 days real bad, so it's not like you'll have to use it for that long, you know? Hang in their and congrads!!!!!

You might try some OTC topical tooth-pain meds...you can expect to have pain whenever your braces are adjusted...even if you weren't pregnant!
