For the third year in a row they are killing my grass and I'M out of ideas on how to get them out of my yard. Nothing seems to work.

I've had good results with Amdro fire ant bait. For resistant colonies, I would suggest spraying your lawn with malathon. Bear in mind that malathon kills not only fire ants, but all insects, butterflies included, if they come in contact with the poison. Use with discretion.

Where do you live, it may not be ants killing your grass! Grub worms, fungus, sod web worms, chinch bugs. Where is the grass looking bad? On the edge of a walk or drive or something, or in the middle. On the edge could be chinch bugs, cut both ends out of a soup can and push it into the ground about 2 inches and fill it with water (keep it filled) for around 3 - 5 minutes and see if you see little bugs floating to the top. I bet it is not ants!!! Try some other stuff that is made to kill multiple kinds of bugs, go to a hardware store or nursery and talk to them.

If you use contact killers......which is everything that ISN'T Amdro.....it is likely you will not kill the queen. Amdro is a bait that ants seek out as they are foraging. Workers take the bait down to the queen and feed it to her. Hydramethylnon is the poison used. They don't know about it until after it is eaten.
