violation notice?

I got my first violation notice, someone asked very silly question so I was being silly and said 2 point cha-ching, do you think it was a fair violation of gaming for points rule?? saw another answerer state they only wrote so they could get 164 points to get to level 2, isn't that the same?

The violations and points have the same meaning. None.

Don't worry about it. People are weird.

Having just "2 points" as the main part of your answer is pretty much the baseline definition of gaming for points, so yes, it's a violation.

If another person wrote something similar, it's possible that it hasn't been reported yet or that Yahoo hasn't gotten around to that violation yet. Just because someone else got away with it for a while doesn't make it "legal." There are thousands of questions in the database right now that are violations but they're still there.

Technically, yes, that was a violation. If it's just one violation and not something that you do regularly, then I wouldn't worry about it. The Answers agents have to respond as consistently as they can. I guess the real kicker in your answer was noting that you had just got two points which is similar to one of the examples in the community guidelines.

There are many more violations out there like this, it just takes time for the Answers team to get to them. And there are MUCH more serious and abusive violations that they have to address, as well.

So, yours is a minor one and I wouldn't worry too much about it.

That was considered gaming for points.

Yahoo probably can't tell how often you do that though. They might think because you did it then, that you do it all the time. And I think you need to be reported, so maybe no one reported that other person.
