Why do people support a bad team?

I have continued to support the Royals through all of their struggles. Many people ask me why I like them and I never have a good answer. They are just my team.So why do these teams that continue to struggle still have fans? What makes people support a bad team?

Because they are long-time supporters of the team, and they might get frustrated with them, but they have a soft spot in their hearts for them. They also supported them when they were good, so they now want to be there when they are good again. Look at Cubs fans!

  • You should always stay with your team, through bad times and good times. I am a huge Orioles fan. I have never seen them win a world series, even make the playoffs. I still support them. But the thing I don't like about people is changing from winning team to winning team. STICK WITH ONE TEAM PEOPLE. YOU DON'T NEED TO LIKE THE RED SOX ONE YEAR, THEN THE WHITE SOX, JUST SO YOU CAN LOOK GOOD BECAUSE YOU LIKE THE WHITE SOX AND THEY WON THE WORLD SERIES. But people support them because that maybe their fist team they liked, or they may not have seen them win a world series, or many other reasons. But it is ok to like a bad team.

If you only like a team when its good, then there is no reason to watch sports, in sports everyone cheers for the underdog because anything is possible, with this said, I didn't realize the Royals games still were a major league baseball team

People support teams that are bad because they never stop believing that their team can do better and that many of them can't forget when their teams were the powers of their day. I know exactly what you mean when you say that you just like them because they're your team. I'm the same way with the Dodgers!

Because we actually care about our team, no matter what.

We support our teams through thick and thin.

They are a part of our community and have a specialplace in our hearts.

I have been a Tiger fan for many years, and through it all I supported them, rooted for them, and no matter what I will always support them.

    I appauld your loyality.

When The Tigers lost 119 game sin 2003 I still wore my Tiger hat and tee shirts.

People looked at me like I was crazy, and asked me why.

    I always answered:

Because they are The Tigers, and I love them.

I would support the Cubs no matter what. I dont care if they try to make there team better or not. It is al ot of fun going to the stadium and getting drunk and going out after the games. win or lose it doesnt get better than that

Don't feel too bad. At least you're not a cubs fan. I mean, at least the royals have won a world series in the last century

Loyalty. Same way a person would support someone who was a friend, even if the friend wasn't the greatest person. Once you've developed a "relationship" with a team, you feel loyal and want to stick with them. (most people anyway)

becasue thats loyalty, im not a person who jumps from team to team just because they are good. thats not a fan, thats just someone who wants to be popular with people
