Why is Sunday substituted for the Sabbath (Saturday)?
Since it is not Biblical to worship on Sunday why so many people do it instead of following what the Bible says that Saturday is Sabbath?

YOUR ANSWER IS IN HERE!
"Ye worship ye know not what; we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews." John 4:22
Notice Jesus was saying that we should worship Saturday like the Jews.
Have you ever looked up Sabbath in the:
Encyclopaedia Americana, vol.24, pp.68-69; it tells you it's Saturday.
Look in Hebrews 3:18-19; 4:1-11 (Jesus didn't change the day to Sunday and the resurrection wasn't Sunday either--2Tim.2:18).
Look in Heb.10:26.
Look in 2Peter 2:21.
Now look at Rev.14:7; doesn't that go back to the 4th Commandment?
Now let's see if the Catholics know when the seventh day is.
"Ques.--Which is the Sabbath day?
"Ans.--Saturday is the Sabbath day.
"Ques.--Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?
"Ans.--We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday."--Peter Geiermann, The Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine (1946 ed.), p.50. Geiermann received the "apostolic blessing" of Pope Pius x on his labors, Jan.25,1910. [bible readings pg.194]
"The Catholic Church...by virtue of her divine mission, changed the day from Saturday to Sunday."--The Catholic Mirror, official organ of Cardinal Gibbons, Sept. 23, 1893.
***Dan.7:25 "he shall think to change times and laws"
Many (MATT.7:14)christians try to cite verses(1TIM.1:7)(MARK 7:7) to say the "10 commandments are done away with"; when they don't know what the passage is saying. They want to attack Jesus; so they're against Christ; so I wouldn't call them christians. They usually cite Colossians and Ephesians to say the Sabbath, Sabbath Days and Clean/Unclean Meats are done away with.
Actually the laws that were done away with are the "laws contained in ordinances".

Many people confuse these with the Seventh Day Sabbath and Sabbath Feast Days.
The Laws Contained in Ordinances = Eph.2:15 & Col.2:15
**It seems that most believe these two texts are saying that the Sabbath and/or Sabbath Feasts are done away with. Let me ask you a question: who wrote these books; wasn't it Paul? Paul kept the Sabbath (Acts 17:2) & Sabbath Feasts (Rom.5:11) like Jesus; then these texts must not be talking about that, when the Bible says to follow Jesus (Col.2:6) and the Apostles (Eph.2:20). If you believe the Bible is inspired (2Tim.3:16) & is the truth (John 17:17); continue on!
**If everyone read the Bible clearly on these matters like Jesus did; then they're wouldn't be false interpetations! The Bible says in Colossians 2:16-17 "Let no man therefore judge you....which are a shadow of things to come" inwhich Jesus showed openly.
It explains some of these ordinances in Colossians 2:20-22 "Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, (Touch not; taste not; handle not; Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?"
Now Hebrews 9:9-13 explains it more!
See: Heb.9:10 "Which stood only in meats and drinks, and diverse washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation."
The other part to this about "judging on the Sabbath,...etc." are in:
Mark 2:23-28; 7:2-23; Luke 13:10-16; 14:1-3 & John 5:8-10; 7:23-24.
Notice in every matter; the Pharisees thought it was wrong to eat with unwashed hands, to heal on the Sabbath, helping out people/animals on the Sabbath as other things; but Jesus always came back with Bible answers to them!
So what is actually done away with is "the judging of these days" and the animal sacrifices!

But back to your question--
Some (MATT.7:14)christians still keep the law because the Bible tells us to. These same christians follow Jesus (Col.2:6).
Here are the verses for the 10 Commandments in New Testament:
ROM.3:31; GAL.3:21; JOHN 14:15; 15:10; 1JOHN 3:4,24; 5:2-3; REV.12:17; 14:7,12
Most religions try to say (Psalms 119:126)"the sabbath is done away with" when it's actually not! But if they seen the rest of the Bible like Hebrews 3:18-19; 4:1-11 and Rev.14:7,12 = they would know it's not done away with!

*****ONE ATTACK SAYS JESUS ROSE SUNDAY; DOES THE BIBLE SAY THIS?
A good foundation (1Tim.6:19) has solid ground evidence. The foundation should include 2Tim.3:16; Isaiah 28:9-10; 2Peter 1:19-21; 1Thess.5:20-21 & Ephes.5:9-10,13. To understand deeply--you must use these websites:

If you read Daniel 9:27; it says "he died in the middle of the week"; that would be Wednesday. This is followed by "3 days & 3 nights" = Matthew 12:40 which equals 1-24hr.day x 3days equals 72hrs. in grave. Next the Bible tells us it would be "after 3days and "not before = Matt.27:63-64 and Mark 8:31. It tells us in three days (John 2:19-21) and not after. The Bible also reminds us a day is 12hrs. not including the night(John 11:9-10). Remember also Gen.1:5 and Lev.23:32 tells us "evening to evening" is considered to be a day.

Now I know this is true because the MAJORITY(Matt.7:13) is always wrong. Also there's many clues that it wasn't a Friday crucifixion and a Sunday resurrection; look at 2Tim.2:18. But you will point out Mark 16:9 which says "Now when Jesus was risen[the perfect tense is correct here--he was already risen] early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene." Now the original Greek didn't have no punctuation. If the King James translators put a comma after the word "risen" and not after "week", this would make complete sense. The Centenary Translation renders it this way: "Now after his resurrection, early on the first day of the week he appeared first to Mary Magdalene."

I'm not sure what's not biblical about worshipping on Sunday. Perhaps somewhere in the Old Testament it says this (I am not an Old Testament scholar). Christ is the fulfillment of the Old Testament, and so therefore, the New Testament changes some of things.
In the Christian Faith, Saturday is still the Sabbath - In Greek it is Sabbaton, in Hebrew it is Shabbat. Either way, it basically means the day of rest. After Christ died on the Cross, he was in the tomb on the Sabbath. However, The Lord Jesus Christ rose on the day following the Sabbath (see Matt. 28:1-2). In Greek, this day is called "Kyriaki" - the day of the Lord. It is right and good to celebrate the Liturgy in commemoration of the resurrection every Sunday.

As has been mentioned, Sunday is not the Sabbath, that's still Saturday. However, people started going to church on Sunday for a few different reasons, but mostly because they wanted an alternate to Saturday. The reason they wanted an alternative to Saturday was that early Christians still considered themselves Jewish, and they were often going to a traditional synagogue on Saturday. Additionally, they were walking to church, and since Levitical law prohibits walking more than a mile on the Sabbath, and the congregations were fewer and further, they met on Sunday when they could walk as far as they needed.

1) Because Jesus disciples began worshiping Him on Sunday.
2) Because Jesus fulfilled the law.
3) Because the Romans carried away most of the Jews when they burned down the Temple in Jerusalem and thereby permanently ended Sabbath worship.
4) Because Gentile Christians were not required to observe Sabbath worship. Gentile Christians were to observe four things and worshiping on the Sabbath was not one of them.

A Direct quote from an Anglican minister:
"And where are we told in the Scriptures that we are to keep the first day at all? We are commanded to keep the seventh; but we are nowhere commanded to keep the first day .... The reason why we keep the first day of the week holy instead of the seventh is for the same reason that we observe many other things, not because the Bible, but because the church has enjoined it."

Another great question I have been pondering...
wish my e-mail was posted you sound like someone I would like to talk too...
Anyway, I am beginning to think that people are basically lazy and do not want to search out the truth for themselves and are content to let someone else do it for them... thus they follow any wind of doctrine....
If Jesus did away with the law are the ten commandments void? Can we now kill, steal etc.??? If that is true then I guess that is why no one wants to keep the sabbath...
