Do you make the bed when you check out of a hotel room?

Just wondering what some people do. As the bed will be remade by the domestic staff it would appear to be a waste of time, but some people like to leave a room as if it were their own. Tell me what you do and why

I am the domestic staff. I say DON"T make the bed. It is going to be ripped apart anyway. It makes it way easier if you leave it alone. We have to put fresh bedding on there no matter how clean you are. And by all means take the little bottles of shampoo, lotion, and soaps. They are there for your convenience. If they are opened we throw them away. The only thing that chokes me is when you use the face clothes to shine your shoes, leave "used socks" in the bed, or half drinks in the trash.

I do it enough to make sure that I haven't left anything in the bed, on the bed, or under the blankets/sheets/pillows that are scattered all over the place. Its easier to do that last check that I've packed up everything if my bed looks like its made, I have left enough things in hotel rooms to know that its worth the one or two minutes it takes!

PS--And I always leave a great tip. In the past, items that I did leave behind were returned to me. I think hotel staff would be less likely to do that for an inconsiderate guest.

If it's the day I leave, I take all the sheets etc off the bed, usually just put them at the end of the bed, even the kids beds. But if I am staying longer then I will throw the blanket over the top.... just to make it look like I made the bed.

I never make the bed at a hotel. They are going to change the sheets anyway. Why make more work for you and them ! But I do straighten up the room before I leave. Ya know, put all the wet towels together and make sure there is no garbage laying around.

No. They'll have to strip it down anyway, why bother?

I wouldn't leave the room in utter shambles either though. Just because a person cleans hotels rooms for a living doesn't mean that they deserve the disrespect of picking up a horrific mess that someone left because they were lazy. I always leave a decent tip as well because it's hard, thankless work to clean up after others all day.

I leave it for the domestic staff. The days I stay in a hotel are practically my break from my mundane daily existence, hence, even on making beds, I allow myself some break on making my bed AS WELL. I already do it most of the days of my life, so I can take a break of it as well. :)

I do out of courtesy. I mean I'm not the best at making the bed and I know they will end up redoing it but I do it anyways. I don't bother making it super nice, but I figure it's better than just leaving all the blankets bunched up on the floor (for some reason we always do that).

One of the luxuries of staying in a hotel is not having to make the bed or clean.

And also it's true that it makes it just that much harder for housekeeping to change the sheets if the bed is made.

    And don't forget to tip!

No I do not make the bed if I'm Checking Out. Hopefully they are planning on changing the sheets & it would be a waste of my energy.

I do straighten things, I find it easier to make sure I'm not leaving anything behind.

You have got to be putting me on. In a hotel room? Make the bed? Damn, honey. In a hotel, I practice my trick shots when I throw trash at the waste basket, and I don't go for rebounds. LOL.
