Can You Can Use An X-Box Like A Computer?

With the xbox 360, you can tap into your home computer. If your computer has Windows XP Media Center Edition, you can record TV, watch and pause live TV, watch shows you have recorded, listen to music and view pictures on your computer and even surf the Internet...somewhat. The Internet portion of MCE is limited but has a lot of multi-media content.

I have heard that Linux can be installed onto the X-Box. Apparently, it can be used as a fully functional PC complete with a VGA Monitor, mouse, and keyboard. I have not verified this to be true or false, however.

I've also heard a rumor that if you have Mech Assault, it can completely wipe Microsoft's Operating System (Firmware?) and replace it with Linux where you can play X-Box games and also use it just like any desktop PC with Linux installed (providing you have a monitor, mouse, and keyboard).

no. the x-box has firmwares unlike your regular pc which has softwares. a firmware is a program that's hardwired on the system and performs repetitious tasks. in short, you cannot manipulate it
