YES yoga can help, but more than anything dandruff problems need to first be attacked by some kind of shampoo...I say, the more natural. the better....any TEA TREE shampoo's work good...stay away from head and shoulders or any strong shampoos..conditioning your scalp will give you more dandruff,,only condition hair below the ears. Also..warm/cold water is the best. If u wash your hair every other day, with a good natural shampoo, eat relatively healthy, and keep a good state of mind (yoga can def. help)..you will be able to manage the dandruff...Ive had dandruff since I was 12...and ive been able to manage it pretty well.

Just work your way up. They are two types of Head & Shoulders: Head & Shoulders (uses zinc pyrithione) and Head & Shoulders Intense Treatment (uses selenium sulfide[Selsum Blue uses it too, H&S might be cheaper]). Honestly, the original works for most people if used as directed. I recommend that you leave it in you hair for about 3-5 mins, before rising out. If doesn't work use the other kind as directed.
Now if that doesn't work for sure by some weird chance. I recommend a new anti-dandruff shampoo that came out on the market non-prescription sometime back call Nizoral (uses... this is a mouthful and can't really pronouce it.. Ketoconazole). Yet, this is real pricy. I think I paid 10 bucks for like a 4 FL OZ bottle.
There are two others poplar anti-dandruff ingerdients (salicyclic acid [used in Selsum Blue and Neutrogena varations]) and (tar coal [Neutrogena]) These things try to eat up the dead skin and stuff. However, these are really harsh stuff (really nasty smells too). In fact, tar coal shampoos warn to avoid sunlight for afew hours after applying the product. I stay clear of them personally it was hard on my scalp.
Thats why I recommend Nizoral and H&S products. They are more gentle (lot better smelling), since zinc pyrithione and Ketoconazole are anti-fungal agents. The cause of common dandruff (sometimes is cause by certian skin conditions) is kinda of unknown. They are pretty sure it's caused by a fungus. Factors like poor diet, stress, poor hygenie, etc. just make the fungus thrive (think real oily hair is anohter). It's not deadly or anything... You lose dead skin all the time (everywhere), but just makes things build to dandruff flakes and it makes wearing black embrassing. Give it a shot and good.
BTW Prescription shampoos are either stronger forms or combination of the ingredients I mentioned.

Neutragena makes an awesome dandruff shampoo and conditioner to treat it. It's not as harsh as head and shoulders. Dandruff is caused by yeast on the scalp. Make sure you're washing you're hair well and often. Rinse with cool water. Yoga may help with stress, but it won't kill yeast.

lol i dont think yoga does anything. I'm the type of person that gets dry skin by the weather. When it gets cold my skin peels. I joined the military and learned that drinking a lot of water will actually cure this in the long run, but what I also do during the winter is mix 50% of selson blue with my regular shampoo and it works just fine.

I don't know about yoga for dandruff, however you can get on a series of anti fungal medicines and supplements. Two that I know of are BioActive Nutrients and Seagate (brand names).
They have lots of anti fungals. In the meantime you can always use Head and Shoulders shampoo.

ok, nizoral is a good dandruff shampoo, neutrogena pine tar shampoo is good for dandruff too.
as far as yoga.... how could that possibly effect the amount of oil and dead skin your scalp produces? it can't. diet can, but exercise and yoga cannot

while you got a lot of good advise to use dandruff shampoo and to keep your scalp clean, no one mentioned that you should also brush your scalp. I use a boar bristle brush every night and again in the morning before I shower. It helps to get rid of the flakes.

Uhmm.. Yoga is used for the body, not for the scalp. Just use Head&Shoulder shampoo. Really works!
