Why are my dogs gross?
I know this sounds stupid but it's a ligitimate question. I have a 4 year old rott and we just got an 8week old puppy. They've finally gotten used to each other, but now they're licking each other. Like licking each other. It's really sick. Is this normal?
Ok I kind of thought that it was maybe a getting to know each other thing, or greeting too, but they seem to like it. I keep yelling at the big dog, because he obviously likes it. He's showing us he likes it.

Dogs lick each other as a greeting and a gesture of friendship. It is completely normal and means they like each other.
Its really too bad humans don't lick each other. There might be a lot less road rage and we might all finally get along!

yes this is normal but it can be a habit you can break. My parents breed chiwawas and they do it all the time and it is not always male to male either. But in your case of the age difference they rott is asuming the role of the parent of the puppy. If the puppy isnt clean enough the rott will clean him, and when the puppy is cleaning the rott is is a sign of affection, mutual affection. But when they get annoyed with it they will let the other know. If you want to stop the behavior just scold them when you catch it happening. Also a squirt bottle with work too. They will get the point. This link may help.

I have 2 dogs and the smaller one will always lick the bigger one's face. This is normal for dogs it means they're friends and like each other. Dogs can be really gross, like make you hurl gross, like when my big dog tryed to lick up my sister's vomit. Ugh!

Um, that's called "grooming". They're simply grooming each other. Dogs cant bathe themselves, so they clean each other this way. Yes, its a sign of affection as well, but not in the way you're thinking......

Dogs lick themselves--and in this case, each other--to groom themselves. It's perfectly normal.

Are you serious? Get over it! Dogs eat their own vomit; if you have a low gross-out threshold, you may have to get rid of the dogs.
