I don't know where you live so I will add the spot that I like. I go to the cliffs at Huntington Beach. The are just about 3/4 mile west of the pier. Use sand crabs for bait but make sure to break their back shell before you cast so they do not bury themselves once you cast out. Another good time is during a grunion run up at Sunset Beach.
