It's a good question. Also ask yourself, "why do some married women think they need a man on the side", and "why do some marriages break up even though there's no affair going on?"

The answer is straightforward: marriages are for the long-haul, and boredom (at least at times) is inevitable. There are constructive ways to deal with that boredom (find new activities to do together, find activities to do apart, meet new friends, travel) and destructive ways (having an affair being the most common.)

If a person recognizes that it's boredom they're trying to escape, rather than their spouse, then it's more likely they'll find a constructive solution rather than a destructive one.

Of course, there are also bad marriages out there, where one person is not getting respect or love from the other, and so an affair can be a way to feel loved, desirable and valuable -- at least for a short time.

Let me start by saying I don't necessarily agree with the logic guys use for this activity. Truthfully, there isn't a good reason for "little women" in relationships. Admittedly, I've had opportunities to "indulge" but haven't even though my marriage has been really unstable for several years. People (men and women) need to work together to keep their marriage strong. If something is missing for one spouse they need to work together to resolve it (should be possible). If the missing becomes a major issue and can't be resolved then the marriage should end..

I think they think the grass is greener on the other side. Must be some feelings left over from being a teenager. Sadly, they never shoud've gotten married.

It depends, some men do it because they CAN. Other's blame alcohol or whatever, still some say because of unhappiness in the relationship.

Good question, I can't wait to see some of the mens answers.

The entree isn't good without something on the side. It makes life more exciting.

Usually it's lack of self confidence, or unhappiness/unsatisfaction in the relationship.
