zoology is the study of animals. there are types of zoology like icthiology(fish), ornithology(birds),herpetology(reptiles), and others. most zoologists specialize in a certain species or family of animals. youll probably need to go trough taxonomy(classifying organisms) first. but zoology is a wide subject. there are two main types of animals invertebrates(no backbone) and vertebrates( backbone). invertebrates are divided into arthropods(insects, arachnids, crustatceans), molluscs(slugs, snails, octopi, squid), annelids(worms), coelenterata(corals, jellyfish). the vertebrates are divided into aves(birds), mammilia(mammals), reptilia(reptiles), amphibia(amphibians), and fish. that is about as general as you can get without going trough a science textbook.

Zoology is the study of animals. If you study it in college you will take a wide variety of classes learning a little about a lot of different animals. If you get a Masters...you can go on to specialized in one group of animals. If you want to work as a Zookeeper, all you need is a Bachelors Degree. I have a Bachelors in Zoology...but specialize in birds (ornithology) and work as a Wildlife Biologist.

Zoology is a branch of biology. Your concern rests in studying animals. You can specialize from there to study an individual group, for example: herpetology is the study of reptiles and amphibians. You could work at a zoo, or a museum or a company doing research. You could even do independent research.

I guess there is no clear definition about what zoologists do. I would say that they study everything about ANIMALS. A zoologist-to-be would begin studying general things about animals, e.g. ecology, behaviour, physiology, evolution etc etc. Then he or she should specialize in one particular area and species, e.g. behaviour of birds.

Zoologists are scientists that study different aspects of animals, carry out experiments to test hypotheses, they are usually university researchers or researchers at scientific institutes.

zoology is very neat. you place and clean animal cages then put the animals back in without the animal dying but first learning all about animals and their habitat. poke them with sticks if you like but its illegal in all states.
