Top 10 Metal guitarists today?

Please do not list someone who has not released anything bad-assed in 5 years. This is for current players, not heroes of the past. Even though he is the reason I started playing, Dimebag is not eligible.

Update:

try to list more than 5.

Update 2:

They have be REAL METAL. Derek Trucks, Angus, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Mick Jones and Satch aren't metal. They are great gutarists, but NOT METAL.

I Saw Yngwie last month in Sauget, Il. That **** was metal. I expected the guitar solos to Own, but the music to suck. It was METAL. I was surprised.

Well, these are my favorite guitarist, but that does not mean that they are the best ones. There is some crazy kids these days that are really pushing the limits.

by the impact i think of the record is a million. The Who 2. The doorways 3. Deep pink (smoke on the water,duh,duh,duh......) 4. Led Zeppelin (began heavy metallic, plus Stairway to Heaven) 5. Black Sabbath (began heavy metallic, plus Iron guy) 6. Rolling Stones (between the 1st rock bands) 7. Judas Priest (metallic gods) 8. Aerosmith (have by no ability been unpopular) 9. Queen (have made some extraordinarily memorable anthems). 10. Kiss 11. Scorpions 12. AC/DC 13. Iron Maiden (the main efficient heavy metallic band ever) 14. Motörhead 15. Manowar sixteen. Metallica (as quickly as metallic gets) 17. Nirvana (made grunge undemanding). I further another communities because of the fact they had impact interior the track of the different (as Motörhead and Manowar who had super impact on Metallica). Deep pink, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath have impact one yet another (the order can replace) and the three at the same time replace rock track. doorways and Who are not so heavy metallic yet they confirmed the path, they coach all the different.

    Well.....

I've played for about 25 yrs and can only give my opinion ,based on my personal tastes,so I wouldn't expect everyone to agree with me.That said, I'll give you my "TOP 5 LIST"

    1. Glenn Tipton(Judas Priest)

    2. K.K. Downing(Priest)

    3. Dave Murray(Maiden)

    4. Adrian Smith(Maiden)

    5. Eddie Van Halen(Not true metal...but I can't leave him off a list like this)

  • 2 decades ago

    1. Steve Vai

    2. Michael Angelo Batio

    3. Zakk Wylde

    4. John Petrucci

    5. Kirk Hammett (when you think of metal, Metallica has to cross your mind)

But Dimebag is number f**king one out of every metal guitarist in the history of music.. hands down, no questions asked.. and if you think differently, then you've never listened to metal until you've heard him play

I don't know if I would consider him metal, but John Petrucci of Dream Theater kicks ***. And by the way, Jimi Hendrix and Yngwie are not metal.
