Why do they say Ford cars suck?

I drive a '97 Ford T-bird with 108,877 miles on it,A/C cold as alaska, original motor and trans. I have no major problems with my car,I drive 37 miles round trip to and from work everyday,so it's my daily driver. I work in an Acura dealership fixing Acuras. Mostly transmissions on TL's and MDX. If Fords suck, why am I able to drive to work everyday to go fix Acuras that are broken? And no because I'm a mechanic doesn't mean I fix my car. I haven't touched my car other than change the oil regularly.

Generally speaking; Ford has have the most break down comparing to others. Your car might be good. And probably out of 10. But still cars are runs when taken care of it well.

Well to be honest I have never owned a ford vehicle. But the people that say they suck I can almost guarantee don't take care of their vehicles. I have owned and operated 3 quick lube centers for 25 years, while that in no way makes me a mechanic, I have worked on a lot of cars and trucks of all makes. Most of my customers that say they don't like their cars and or have problems with them are the ones that come in and change their oil every 15,000 miles and never replace the air filter or any other necessary parts to keep their cars running good. whether they drive Ford, GM, Chrysler or any foreign models the customers that take good care of their vehicles tend to have no or little problems. So I think to sum it up I would say that most people that say ford suck are just ignorant to the fact that you need to maintain your vehicle in order for it to last a long time and run good.I have just as many people say Gm sucks and they also are just not taking care of them.

well seeing as the number of ford sold outweigh almost every other car in america i think that most people know someone that has owned one that broke down. This doesn't mean that they are bad cars but there are so many out there that problems are bound to happen

I don't know - but Ford is in reality better than GM which is in reality better than Daimler-Chrysler. In all honesty, Ford is the best North American car company - i've driven Ford's all my life and never have I had problems with them that are unusual.

Although, one time, my cousin's Ford Explorer randomly caught on fire and exploded... apparently that is the most uncommon occurance among cars - but it happened. It was parked and turned off when it happened- CRAZY EH!

Let's see, Ford has had more recalls than any other manufacturer. Paint that fades, even in garaged vehicles. They had that big recall over a tire issue that caused a lot of headaches.

Ford's transmissions usually start slipping around 60,000 miles. Replacement price is around $1200. Yours will soon enough. I've had 4 Fords in my family, none owned by me, 1 T-bird same year as yours owned by my aunt & uncle. 130,000 mile check up & the transmission started slipping. 2 LTD station wagons, same year, different colors, one tan, one light blue, 121,000 on each as the trannies started slipping. 69 mustang, light yellow, 185,000 & would lock in 1st gear or neutral on a MANUAL transmission. It blew a spark plug, same one each time, every 5000 miles like clockwork. That was my mom's very first car & I can remember more time spent in car repair waiting rooms than I've ever spent with another car.

I've owned 3 Hondas, 1 1979 Civic hatchback aka 3 door hatchback, 1 1982 Prelude, 1 1992 Accord EX. The Civic was sold to a college student who drove it on campus & home, then gave it to his younger sister for graduation. The car's probably in a junkyard somewhere or hopefully still on the road. The Prelude was sold to a Honda repairman who still has it. He lives 3 miles from me & I see my old car often. It has almost 300,000 miles on it, same engine, protected now with high mileage oil. The Accord? I'm driving it now. My mom got it in 1992, 5 months after it was returned from a lease purchase. It had 32,102 miles on it. The guy who had it wanted the 1993 Accord & returned the one I now drive. My mom drove the Accord until 1999 when she gave it to me & got herself a 1997 Taurus. That car has been a repair nightmare but is fine now. Until it breaks down again.

The Ford Taurus sucks in every measurable way.

i have a '94 Crown Victoria LX and it has 220, 000 miles.....it's still whisper quiet (i did have to recharge my A/C though), but it's an exception. most ford cars suck because they are not reliable...my moms has a 2005 taurus and it's been to the shop more than any car i've heard of for problems...
