Anyone takeToprol XL for cardiac PVCs? How long?

I was put on Toprol XL almost a year ago, and I would like to ask if anyone taking it has had any side effects? I have other cardiac problems, and because I currently have no insurance I can't get a good medical evaluation from a cardiologist who will show much interest.

I'm having chest pains from time to time and also feel like I'm going to pass out. I've heard this medication can actually cause chest pain, has anyone experienced this?

Serious answers please.

I actually take 4 different blood pressure medicines. Toprol XL50 mg is one of them.

Like you I still get chest pains with light headedness. I have been taking Toprol XL for about 2 years. I have had 3 heart caths with 4 stent implants.

But I have never heard of Toprol giving you chest pains.

You really need insurance. It has been my experience that since 1992 this high blood pressure just gets worse.

I take 100 mg of Toprol XL. I actually love it, I take it for high blood pressure though. It might be too strong for you, especially if you feel chest pain of faintness. It's really hard to tell however without knowing what all your problems are, what dose you take and what other meds your on. Atenolol is a lot cheaper, can be given in lower dosages, and is more commonly given for people with PVCs.

You will need to see a physician though.

agree w/richard! try the clinics. i'm taking toprol for blood pressure, and the dr. said it's one of the best for my condition. also, i stopped caffeine for fast heart rate, and that helped (not just coffee)

it will lower your blood pressure and that will cause your heart to act up? if you have other problems too? is that all the meds yu take? it can have to do as to when and how soon after you take other meds?/ stay away from a of coffee?made me tired and washed out!! look up a clinic at your city?/ see if their is a free clinic at the health dept? sometimes they health providers that will look at you. good luck!!
