The Army states there are 129,000 US soldiers in Iraq. Do you think this is correct?

For security reasons the exact number of service members is classified. I spent 18 months working in Iraq for the company charged with delivering all of the food for the troops (army, navy, air force & marines) and civilians. Part of my responsibilities was computing the food requirement for the men and women on the fround. I would be interested in your estimation of the actual number of US service members we supported on the ground in Iraq. By the way, I/we had a fairly accurate count of civilian works we feed since they were billed to a separate account. And no, I can't disclose the the number of troops we feed while I was there.

I believe that its pretty correct for the "regular" soldiers. There are things that don't make the news.... such as the declining number of troops deployed to Iraq. Check out globalsecurity.org .... I think it gives about the most accurate and it gives a basic month by month as well.

It's correct. USA by history believed that AMERICA is a land of free people and that they have the morale obligation to preach it all over the world. Hence, their involvement in so many conflicts outside their home. Their mission to install democracy in Iraq is not yet over.
