I grew up in Fresno, Ca Moved to Los Angeles when I was 17 lived there for 5 years, moved to the Bay area for another 4-5 years and moved to Phoenix 2 years ago.
Personally I love it. I actually have a house here for less than I was paying in rent. The weather is hot, but you are either working or inside when it is really hot. Plus it is really not that much hotter than LA. Dry heat.
We get great sunsets....I saw one answer say it was dangerous....Seriously I lived in LA...Phoenix is not dangerous!!
I have heard that people find it difficult to keep a job here, but it is not any harder than LA.
I currently live in South Phoenix by South Mountain and it is beautiful here. I really think you will like it. Good Luck..
I would be happy to send you a relocation book I'm a real estate agent and get them free from the title companies. Just email me and I will be happy to pass it along.

Great idea. Phoenix is much mellower than LA. If you can, try Scottsdale, there is much more going on there and the downtown area is more active (weather permitting). It has a rep as "Snotsdale" but that's just because that's where it's at. Other than that, there are nice areas and crappy areas of each suburb. Daytrips up north are a great way to cool down during the summer or take a float down the Salt River in east Mesa.

I love it here! Moved here when I was a child about 22 years ago, & I never plan on moving.
Weather's great! No earthquakes! Living is not terribly expensive.
Welcome to AZ!!
I have to admit, i don't recommend moving in the summer. We bought a house in Glendale last Sept and moving sucked in the heat. If you can, wait until it's cooler

Well in Az everybody knows that it is hot. There are a lot of fun places to go. But there is to many to name. But los angeles is probably better. but still move to AZ because it is probably crowded in los Angeles. Pheonix is old though. But there is a lot of room for a lot of people. There is a lot of friendly people. But it depends on which part of pheonix and neighborhood.

There are lots of tough neighborhoods in Phoenix and if you don't want to live there, I suggest get a high paying job so that you may live outside of the main city.
