About 14 million people immigrated to the U.S. between 1910-1920, with the pace slowing considerably in the mid-to-late-1910s because of World War I. The most immigrants came from Italy, with other southern and eastern European countries such as Germany making up the remainder. Very few people came from Asian, South American, or African nations due to immigration quotas.
