So who do you like best Weber, Marx or Comte and why? What do you think of W.E.B. Dubois?

I think contemporary sociologists are number crunchers, and goof balls. Classical theorist made more sense. the writings of Contemporary sociologists sound as if they were on an acid trip.

My favorite is August Compte. I visited his grave in Paris France. I forgot who W.E.B Dubois is.

Easy here. Weber for understanding, Marx for ideology and Comte for the broad view. Don't have a job in sociology, but enjoy sociology of knowledge more than driving. All knowledge makes you a little pesimistic. Not a communist, but only because it wouldn't work. Yes, Karl Marx was creating an utopian vision: people will not work when they don't have to: at least not as much and efficient. Dubois: "Drunk with power, we (the U.S.) are leading the world to hell in a new colonialism with the same old human slavery, which once ruined us, to a third world war, which will ruin the world": do you agree with his view? Hoo-hah. I majored in Sociology and ended up being a School Psychologist. What the world needs is teachers and social workers; don't knock it. Economics is the pessimistic science. Communism didn't work. Contempory sociologists are lost in statistics..
