What to do for impressing the friends?

well, i've also xperienced tht b4 being left out from my classmates group... u dont have to do anything just to please anybody.. BE URSELF... try to mingle w/ them by joining n their discussion to avoid being out of place...be smiling and friendly!!!!!!!!!!!!! gud luck...

There are some nifty answers but I have to disagree on one base point. I believe it is important to create an impression and to blow your own horn on occassion or at least set it up for someone else to cheer you. This is a matter of esteem and is needed to progress emotionally in life. So let's look at a couple methods to step it up.

First, you have to assess what your group's focus is during gatherings. Do they like to go out to clubs? Do they gather at a friends house? Do they hang out around bonfires? Are they beachbums? Do they cruise the strip? Where, how, and why do they get together?

Second, list items in the environment that can be used to show off. Clubs/Pubs/Bars are a party environment that usually involve dancing or pub games such as darts and billiards. At homes the biggest feature is the kitchen and possibly a bar. People love food and drink. Bonfires are almost featureless but can be accessorized by things such as music, food, or pyrotechnics. The beach has a ton of water sports as well as volleyball, horseshoes, frisbee... This list is almost endless. Cruising is all about cars; driving, sound systems, engines, customization. Whatever the environment their is either focal points or places to where focus can can shifted.

Third, get skills. After you have found a focal point in which you can direct attention to yourself go get trained in it. Take dance classes. Take a cooking class. Learn to be a deejay. Learn mixology. Take an auto shop class. Learn to surf. Yes, this is going to be time away from your crowd but it will be a great investment.

Fourth, show off. If you go to a club, show what you know. Invite everyone over to a dinner party. Bring the music or fantastic snacks to the bonfire. Mix drinks that no one has heard of. Ask about someone's sound system and critique it. Now that you have skills you have to stick them out front to be seen.

If this fails to make an impression then lose the friends and find others that share your newfound skill. Places like Meetup.com make it easy to find people who share interests.
