Removed the timing chain cover to change the timing chain. When I removed the cover I found about 5 ball bearings and a small plastic bearing holder. I was hoping that someone knows what it is and where it came from. Thanks for your help

the bearings and retainer are from the water pump. the water pump on that motor is driven by the timing chain. in order to change the water pump the exhaust manifold must be removed. it enters the rear of the timing cover to be driven by the chain. make sure the chain stays in time.2.4L quad four(eighth digit of vin is "T") is an interferance engine. which means that the valves will contact the pistons if the engine becomes out of time.
