If you are flying round trip, I totally reccommend priceline.com. I found my tickets for vacation at a rediculously low cost after I bid on them.

I have family overseas and really do a bit of surfing to find great deals when I got to visit then annually. I normally go to the big sites, orbitz, hotwire etc… not all of those site show rates from all of the airlines so cross referencing them tends to yield the best overall picture. Once I find a flight I like time wise and price I will go to the actual airline website and see how they price it, sometimes I save a few bucks that way as well. In addition you can sign up for sites like ebates or mypoints and get back some of the money you spent thru their sites. It is really all about comparison shopping.
Southwest and jetblue are good calls as well. I think hooters air goes to parts of florida as well... good luck!
EDIT - I know some really swear by priceline but keep in mind you cannot fully controll which flight you go on so you might fly at some really annoying time or there might be a few layovers. and once you commit to priceline you are done... you gotta pay for it.

I have been looking for a cheap ticket to FL too. Last year was easy, but this year they are very high. I checked all the above mentioned on line ticket spots, but yikes, terrible. My daughter called about why the rates were so high now, blah, blah, they told her it would be cheaper after mid Sept. I guess they have us over a barrel right now with gas so high. It's still cheaper than driving.

You're usually best checking the airlines' own websites as they will offer fares without agent commission and so on. However, you may be able to purchase tickets at further discounts from online agents like Expedia, Travelocity and so on.
