    because if the ocean and shore were not next to each other there would be a vacuum of space between the water and the regular land...also we would need the shore somewhere and if it were inland there would be no way to go surfing at the beach because there would be no water.

    ......shore is defined as any land on a body of water....the ocean is a body of water....i'd tell you to figure it out from there, but im scared to.....
