yes! i just bought one and i love it. you won't really appreciate it until 4-5 years pass and you realize that it hasn't broken down yet! i've known people who've owned"crapsmen" and none were happy with their decision.
deere rated #1 in consumer reports.

The John Deere will cost more up front, but will save money in the long run. Craftsman mowers do not perform as well, nor do they last as long. I would highly recommend the Deere over the Craftsman for those reasons. I've used both. The Deere also has a better ride and you can get parts easily enough from the dealer. Craftsman is built more like a Yard Machine, like at Walmart. Cheap, except they charge extra for the name. I've never seen a cheap used John Deere, but you can find lots of scrap Craftsman. Go Deere, you'll be happy for it.

If you base your decision on weight you should find a concrete tractor. Actually 10 years ago I would have rated John Deere the best but I think they are on the downhill roll. I don't rate Craftsman very highly either.

The debate is on!!!
It depends on who you ask & it majorly depends on which particular type (size, engine, etc.) you are looking for.
Just like some folks prefer their Chevy's & Ford's!!! The same undoubtedly goes for John Deere vs. Craftsman.
We have a Craftsman lawnmower tractor for the small stuff -- mowing grass, light snow removal...but hands down our New Holland Tractor is great for the big stuff -- Spreading gravel, building site prep., & clearing lots of ice & snow!

absolutely not in the long run good quality but parts are expensive and none of the mini-tractors are built like real tractors
