Mine (south africa) means the possibility of a united and prosperous future for a country that deserves it but hasn't quite realised the possibility and therefore the ability to acheive it.

it used to mean protection, freedom for all americans, and justice, but now the flag means to me: illegals, poverty, and crime. the selling out of america. to me, the flag means nothing.
