Numerous ancient cultures had sayings very similar which that most likely derived from in its current form.

Many people throughout history have understood it as well as many now having the gist of its meaning (individuals), but as a whole... Human beings STILL don't "Get IT"!!! Live your life and allow others to as well.

From what I understand, the saying originally referred to war, more specifically in a trench war instance where opposing forces ignored eachother, even in close proximity, in cooperation to save their own lives, (but against orders from their own country's commands.)

Hence the term "live and let live".

The meaning has since changed to more of a philosophical concept.

I don't know who said it but it means live in harmony and peace, taking care of ur own life as well as of those others.

In Yoga, there is an exact saying in hindi.. Geo aur Geevan though.

Well, it's a widely quoted maxim bringing forth images from the Beatles to the AIDS movement, but personally I know it best as the preamble to this beautiful Mary Baker Eddy (founder of Church of Christ, Scientist) quote:

“To live and let live, without clamour for distinction or recognition; to wait on divine love; to write truth first on the tablet of one's own heart - this is the sanity and perfection of living.”

Don't know who said it but the meaning is pretty self-explanatory: you have to accept other people's ways of doing things if you expect them to accept yours. Don't get in people's way or try to stop them from doing what they're going to do.

    No idea who said it.

The meaning is that when we live, our co-beings too have equal right to live.

    James Bond said it
