Clever question, in that it suggests that people might be apathetic about apathy. I call that condition, in which a person or thing exhibits a property about that same property, an "autotelic" condition. Being apathetic about apathy is autotelic. Forgetting to forget something is also autotelic. Being excited about apathy is heterotelic, and so is remembering to forget. The word 'CAPITAL', spelled in capitals, is autotelic; the word 'capital', spelled in lower case, is heterotelic. There is a well known paradox (discussed by Bertrand Russell) that arises in connection with this idea. Is the word 'heterotelic' autotelic or heterotelic? If it is autotelic, then it is what it means, i.e. heterotelic; but if it is heterotelic, then it is not what it means, i.e. it is autotelic. It's enough to make one apathetic!

This reminds me of the question that asks, "What are ignorance and apathy?" The answer? "I don't know and I don't care."

Apathy means a lack of caring.

Why would you care about apathy if apathy is all about not caring and showing indifference?

This is an ironic question. Still, I must answer by saying that there are some people, called our "enlighteners," who inform and try to reform those apathetic people who simply don't care about anything. However, I doubt there is an apathetic majority in the world, because most people do care about something, whether this be God, their wives or husbands, or their new cars.
