When no-one has voted or or several have and there is a tie on a question it gets put into tiebreaker mode.
How long does it take before a question whose votes no longer come out in a tie ends.
When is it no longer considered a tie? I have seen several questions that arn't ties anymore. So when?

Tie-breakers are automatically verified every 12 or 24 hours to seen if the tie has ended. But there are some problems with several questions that have a clear winner but the tie doesn't want to end...Yahoo team has been working on this bug...

Usually, the questions are checked back on every 12-24 hours, at which point whatever answer is in the lead is marked as best answer and the question resolved.
