How do you know if you want to end a relationship with your boyfriend?

One big indication should be that you are asking this question. If you're thinking about it that much, you probably do. If you don't want to be around him and find yourself doing everything possible to avoid it. If talking to him irratates you. Mostly, if you can't find any reasons why you want to stay, then it's over.
