Wait 1 or if your really peranoid, 2 months before changing it, that will make sure that the hole is allready opened up, or, just have the ring ready and hurry and pull it out and in 2 seconds put the new one in, it isnt that fast to close up.

Make sure you've waited until it's completely healed then you'll want to put some saline solution on it and remove it slowly and gently. Next just put the new ring in. It should go just fine, if there's any discomfort that is probably because it hasn't healed fully. I would try moving the ring around a bit before I took it out. If the process of it just freaks you out have a professional do it for you.

u should still have some neosporin left over, or dial soap- whichever your peircer reccommended. either way, apply it generously before removing your original jewelry and while the hole is empty and your new jewelry will slide right in.
