From what I have always understood that American Native Indians never or could not grow beards, facial hair nor chest hair .

Depended on the Tribe, each Tribe was it's own Nation and still is to this day.

In fact to this day different Indians differ on things such as some are offended by Indian names in Sports Teams and I do find Washington Redskins to be offensive big time.

On the other hand Cleveland Indians were named in honor of the 1st Indian to play Major League Baseball and the Atlanta Braves use Rubber Tomahawks made by Native Americans that feel honored by Atlanta Braves.

Also the Seminole Tribe backs The Florida State Seminoles (the Tribe even picked the Mascot), and the Chippewa Tribe backs the Central Michigan University Chippewas.

True Native Americans don't have facial hair and therefore don't have the need to shave.
